Chapter 2 – Turning Point

translator: Nana

Just when Li Jiahua wondered whether he should go out and ask someone for help, fearing that Ming Wuxiang couldn’t be by himself. Min Wuxiang, who was lying on the bed, suddenly took a deep breath and suddenly sat up.

Ming Wuxiang’s sudden action scared Li Jiahua, who was watching him on the side and made him step back subconsciously. After reacting, Li Jiahua spoke with caution.

“Ming Wuxiang, Master Dao, are you ok?”

Although Ming Wuxiang was immersed in his own thoughts, he still noticed Li Jiahua’s actions. He raised his hand and rubbed the facial muscles that had been tense all night. Then he turned his head to Li Jiahua, who was worried about him, “It’s ok. Your master is fine.”

Ming Wuxiang regretted that he didn’t come back earlier. In fact, he also understood that it was God’s blessing to be able to return to this world again. He had died twice; how could he complain?

The dead were gone. The living who stayed behind had to continue living, which was the greatest reward for those who cared about themselves.

Thinking of this, Ming Wuxiang raised his head and looked at Li Jiahua. It could be said that he hadn’t seen him in a hundred years. Even though there were a hundred years of separation, the memories of getting along for 20 years were still so clear.

Li Jiahua, beside the bed, heard Ming Wuxiang’s response in the same tone as usual. He breathed a sigh of relief and met the other party’s suspicious nostalgic look. Li Jiahua didn’t know what to say for a while. They hadn’t seen each other for a month. How did Master Dao become so weird…

Aware of the change in the other person’s eyes, Ming Wuxiang coughed and put away the nostalgia in his eyes.

“Cough, I’m going to sign up today. At what time do we have to be there?” Many things were still remembered, but some trivial things were forgotten. Ming Wuxiang restrained his exposed emotions and changed the topic directly.

“Nine o’clock, but old Tao asked us to arrive at eight o’clock to help move the new books or something.” Li Jiahua didn’t have any strange questions. After answering, he still asked a little uncertainty, “Are you sure you have no problem?”

“Really not. Let’s go together later.” He still remembered that the senior third-class was on the fifth floor of the new teaching building. As for the head teacher’s appearance, it was a little vague. It was more convenient to go with Li Jiahua.

“Ok, I asked. The dining hall is open this morning, so we don’t have to go to the snack street to buy food. There is plenty of time.”

The food in the dining hall of the second middle school tasted really good. There were all kinds of tastes from all over the world. At the same time, there would never be dark dishes like fried tomato mooncakes. It was rumored that the canteen was so powerful because the principal was trying to fight the No. 1 Middle School. As for whether it’s true or not, the No 2. Middle School students didn’t care, as long as the food was good.

The snack street in the mouth of Li Jiahua was a local specialty food street two blocks away from the back door of the No.2 Middle School. There was no shortage of sweets, snacks, barbecue, etc., and the price was not high. It was quite famous in Hua city.

Hearing that he had to be in the classroom at eight o’clock, Ming Wuxiang didn’t stay in bed anymore. He changed his clothes and went to the balcony to do his personal hygiene.

The student dormitory of the No.2 Middle School was a four-person room with an independent bathroom and toilet, as well as a small balcony. Air conditioning, water heater, water dispenser, washing machine, etc., were all equipped, comparable to small apartments.  As for why the school had made such a large duplicate, please refer to the gossip above.

After taking care of themselves, Ming Wuxiang and Li Jiahua left the dormitory. Although it was the time for students to sign up today, it was still early. They didn’t have to line up to buy breakfast in the dining hall. They took their time eating, and they arrived at the fifth floor about ten minutes before eight o’clock.

When the two approached, they saw the door of the classroom open. Inside, there was a middle-aged man with a somewhat bald head sitting on the platform. He was looking at the handout in his hand attentively.

“Happy new year, old Tao.” Li Jiahua saw the middle-aged man sitting on the platform of the classroom and greeted warmly.

The middle-aged man was Tao Tang, the class teacher of Ming Wuxiang’s third grade (5) class. Teacher Tao got along well with the students in his class. He could make some harmless jokes, but if he became strict, he could also hold down the naughty students in the group.

Hearing the greeting voice from the door, Teacher Tao put down the handout in his hand and turned his head. Seeing Li Jiahua and Ming Wuxiang arrive so early, he smiled, “Happy new year.” After looking at Ming Wuxiang, he joked with Li Jiahua, one of the most popular troublemakers in the class.

“Student Li Jiahua, the New Year’s holiday has passed. Your grades dropped a bit last semester. There is still half a year left for the college entrance examination. You can’t relax. Did you study during the new year? How are the exercises going?”

“Don’t, don’t, the young one knows he is wrong. Please let me go.” Li Jiahua’s academic performance was not bad. He was above the average level in the class. He also had a sweet mouth, was righteous, and he had a wide range of friends.

In the eyes of the teacher, Li Jiahua was good, but his temper was too jumpy. The teacher wanted to grind his temperament if he had the opportunity.

Standing on the side, Ming Wuxiang looked at Li Jiahua, who was begging Teacher Tao for mercy, and the corner of his mouth revealed a trace of a smile.

Although the future development of Li Jiahua was not very rich, the achievements were not low. After graduating from university, he started a business, which later became a company with a registered capital of tens of millions. At that time, he asked him to join him; but was declined by Ming Wuxiang.

Ming Wuxiang knew that because of his family affairs, Li Jiahua would invite him to join because of righteousness.  However, his ability couldn’t help Li Jiahua. It was better to be a quiet side supporter instead of dragging him down.

After teasing Li Jiahua, Teacher Tao turned to look at Ming Wuxiang, who was standing on the side with a faint smile on his face. He raised his hand and patted him on the shoulder. Then he said with concern, “Ming Wuxiang, if you have any difficulties in life and study, don’t hold it alone. Remember to come to the teacher. Don’t look at the teacher’s age; there is no generation gap with you young people.”

Teacher Tao knew what had happened in Ming Wuxiang’s family. The child just reached adulthood, and the only elder in the family left. The impact on the child was certainly not small.

Teacher Tao’s concern made Ming Wuxiang feel soft. At the same time, he also remembered that Teacher Tao had said the same thing to himself in the previous life. It’s just that he was a little bit arrogant back then, and on the surface, he said he was ok, but all the negative emotions were hidden in the bottom of his heart.

The most obvious manifestation was reflected in his study. The grades that were similar to those of Li Jiahua fell to the middle and lower grades. In the end, he was admitted to a third-rate university. After graduating from university, Ming Wuxiang woke up, but the wasted time wouldn’t come back.

Fortunately, he was able to return to the turning point of his life. This time, Ming Wuxiang wouldn’t let himself be like himself in those years. Not to mention the extra experience in the world of cultivation, the golden finger in his hand would never allow him to be mediocre in his whole life.

“Thank you, Teacher Tao, for your concern. Although my grandfather is no longer here, I will try my best to fulfill his expectations of me and enter Yahuang University.”

Seeing that Ming Wuxiang’s expression didn’t seem to be false, Teacher Tao was relieved. When he heard that Ming Wuxiang’s goal was to be admitted to Yanhuang University, he couldn’t help looking sideways.

It was a good thing to have a purpose. Although the goal was a bit difficult. Teacher Tao didn’t really believe that Ming Wuxiang could be admitted to Yanhuang University. However, he still encouraged him, “This goal is very good, but with your current grades, you can’t relax anymore. Work hard.”

Li Jiahua’s reaction was more direct. He put his arm around Ming Wuxiang’s neck and said, “Master Dao, you are amazing. You actually picked Yanhuang University.”

Yanhuang University was the top university in Yanhuang. The students who graduated from it, even if they were not well-known majors, were also talents that various enterprises and institutions were competing for. This was true not only for domestic enterprises but also for foreign companies.

It could be said that Yanhuang University was not only famous in the country but was also well-known abroad.  Although it was stipulated that only candidates from the country could be admitted, there were still many foreign candidates that used various methods to get in. This showed how fierce was the competition for a place at Yanhuang University.

Ming Wuxiang didn’t respond and smiled at Li Jiahua, who was hanging on him. Li Jiahua didn’t know what happened and suddenly felt a bit chilly. When Teacher Tao saw another student coming, he asked them to go to the academic affairs office to move the new books for the new semester.

He silently took back the arm on Ming Wuxiang’s neck and rubbed the goosebumps on his arm. Then he glanced at Ming Wuxiang, who was walking by his side, and muttered, “How could I think that Master Dao’s smile just now was scary?”

There were not many classmates who arrived early, but the academic affairs office was not far away. On the first floor of the same building, six or seven young men were quick to move all the new books into the classroom.

The registration time was nine o’clock, and many students reported early. For the students who arrived ahead, they finished their registration procedure before nine o’clock. Li Jiahua received a call from the same dormitory and was asked to wait in the classroom. The caller said that after he and Dong Zhiming signed up, they would go out together.

After not seeing each other during the holiday, Yi Xing missed them. Regarding the various proposals that Yi Xing, the rich second generation, often made, Li Jiahua had long been calm.

After asking Ming Wuxiang, he just nodded in favor.

Yi Xing and Dong Zhiming didn’t let them wait for long. After nine o’clock, they saw a figure who was striding towards them with the background music. In contrast to someone’s coquettishness, the shy-faced man beside him looked a little pitiful.

“Xiao Li, Master Dao, happy new year. I haven’t seen you for a long time. Did you miss your buddy?”

Compared with the tone of someone that could be heard far away, Ming Wuxiang and Li Jiahua turned their heads together silently. They had an expression that they didn’t know that guy.

“Hey, it’s still not a brother. I haven’t seen you for a holiday!” Seeing the actions of Ming Wuxiang and Li Jiahua, the young man, who walked coquettishly, immediately shouted.

Different from Li Jiahua, Ming Wuxiang had a memory difference of hundreds of years. But when he saw the other party’s actions, the time gap seemed to no longer exist. He looked at Li Jiahua and joked.

“Oh, it turned out that young master Yi came here. I was disrespectful.”

“Every time young master Yi appears, it makes people feel like he is shining. Two sunglasses can’t stop the dazzling light.”

“… Are you two treating me like a light bulb?” Yi Xing twitched his mouth and rolled his eyes after listening to their flattery.

Ming Wuxiang and Li Jiahua gave him a smile. It’s really good that you are so self-conscious.

“Puff.” The three people were very funny. Dong Zhiming, who had never spoken, couldn’t help laughing. Seeing everyone looking at him, Dong Zhiming greeted them with a little embarrassment.

“Master Dao, Li Jiahua, happy new year.”

“Dong Zi, long time no see, happy new year.” Their attitude towards Dong Zhiming was very different. Yi Xing didn’t feel there was anything wrong with it. “Stop, let me sign up with Dong Zi first. You two wait. I booked a private room at the Yi Pin Wei.”

Yi Pin Wei was a century-old restaurant in Hua city. Let’s not talk about the taste of the food. The cheapest dish was above three digits, one could know what kind of restaurant it was based on this.

“Well, it’s a local tyrant. Let’s hold his thigh.”

“Go, go, go, wait for your brother to announce his distinguished name, and hold his thighs at will.” Walking with Dong Zhiming into the classroom, Yi Xing casually waved his hand to Li Jiahua behind him.

Yi Xing and Dong Zhiming registered quickly. With the new book out, a line of four people walked to the school’s parking lot.

Yi Xing was the oldest in the dormitory, only half a year older than Ming Wuxiang. He got his driving license when he reached adulthood. In his words, it’s not convenient to go anywhere without a car, and it was also easy to go out with friends when there is a car.

Yi Xing’s father started a business from scratch, and his home was in Yunshan city, next to Hua city. Although Yunshan city couldn’t compare with Hua city, it was just a little worse. To be able to occupy a seat in the business circle of Yunshan city, the development of Yijia was not small.

As for his son’s roommates, Father Yi knew that all were good characters. More importantly, his son got along well with them, not because of various interests.

So when Yi Xing asked for money to buy a car, Father Yi didn’t refuse. Although the car was not luxurious, it was very comfortable, and it had the highest safety factor among similar vehicles.

The car caused a lot of nostalgia for Ming Wuxiang, who was used to flying on swords in the cultivation world.

Yi Xing was driving, but sometimes he sneaked a peek at Ming Wuxiang, who was sitting behind Dong Zhiming. Looking at Ming Wuxiang’s expression, Yi Xing winked at Li Jiahua, who was sitting in the co-pilot’s seat.

Something had happened in Ming Wuxiang’s family. Li Jiahua had told Yi Xing. He was worried that this unobtrusive fellow would accidentally mention something that made Ming Wuxiang sad after school started.

Don’t look at Yi Xing’s exaggeration when he met them. From his special care, how could he not know that the brother sitting in the back was different? It was impossible for Ming Wuxiang to not notice Yi Xing peeking at him as well as his interactions with Li Jiahua.

Looking at the scenery outside the car window, Ming Wuxiang reproached himself. He was so blind back then that he didn’t perceive the care of the people around him.

  1. Thank you for the chapter! It starts like an interesting story. Small mistake here “Nine o’clock, but old Tao asked us to arrive at eight o’clock to help move the new books or something.” it shouldn’t be 9 here but probably 7, otherwise it doesn’t make sense
